The Stone Arch Bridge is the only stone arch
bridge on the Mississippi River. Included in the National Register of
Historic Places, it was commissioned to be built in 1881 and completed
in 1883. In its over 130 years of operation, the bridge was first a
railroad bridge, then a vehicle bridge, and in 1994 it became a
pedestrian and bicycle bridge. |
